Food seems to have been the theme of my holidays so I thought I would start 2012 with some photos of what I cooked last night!!!

Its time for a change here at frangipani designs

The company has grown so much over the last 2 and a half years so I thought it was time to give it a more grown up look! I will be slowly updating everything over the next month or so and here is what I have done so far.. (note.. the blog is still 'old school style!'

our creative space... hessian wreath

I have made some more wreaths this week, this one is as easy as pie!!

grab some newspaper and a hessian sack

cut the sack into wide strips

scrunch and arrange the newspaper into a circle and use some tape to keep it together

wrap the hessian around the paper and add some bits and pieces... stick it all together with

the glue gun and you are done!

on this one I made some extra hessian circles, some milk bottle circles, some leaves out of book pages

and stuck them together with some fabric and buttons!

Voila!

Sometimes it is really hard for my clients to see how their images will turn out once I have printed and framed them. I have spent a while designing some virtual homes so that they will now be able to (hopefully) visualise the sizes and framing that I can offer.

I have had a little write up on the lovely red wren blog!
Renaes page is filled with lots of amazing things.. tutorials, jewellery, fabric and loads of other goodies.
She has been using my free desktop wallpaper (available here every month!) on her computer and then very cleverly, adding her own special touches to them

as seen here...

she also mentions the lovely little fabric tabs that I have used on my latest wallpaper, which are the same ones that she has used on her blog page design.

Its the 1st of August and we are inching closer to the warmer weather! YAY!
After spending 2 days in hospital with my little one (tonsilectomy!) and another miserable 2 nights I was dying to get out so i took myself off to
mangrove mountain markets! Cool name isnt it! heres what I bought back!

Today is the first day that I have been out of bed properly for a whole week! I have been sick with bronchitis and now have a sinus infection and my little boy has had tonsilitis and hasnt stopped coughing for days.... lets just say that any photos I would have taken on the weekend would not have been pretty! Instead, here are 2 screen grabs from the my 365 magazine website! I found out on the weekend that I will have a little feature/article in the next issue coming out in a few days but for now, check out the first issue, there are some lovely things to see.

What an amazing weekend of weather... after days and days of rain we have come out on the other side and Mother nature is giving us some beautiful warm winter sunshine. I had an amazing photo shoot at the park and ended up taking some extra shots of the gorgeous blue sky around me. My fave is the middle one!

I have always wondered what to do with Jacksons art work, and Im sure you guys have wondered about your kids work too. Well, I decided that after painting Jacksons new room it was looking a bit bare so I made his artwork into a kind of bunting to hang on his wall, It looks pretty cool and he is wrapped in it!! Oh and it was mega easy!!! Im sure that there are better ways of doing it but I just used scissors, glue, string and a stapler!!
Now the only problem is when too stop... i can see bunting hanging everywhere in the future!!!!
One more thing... I have opened my brand new shop! Its really small and the moment but it is destined for much bigger things!

flower press brooch swap

I have been thinking about what to do for ages!! My swap partner is an amazing crafter so its been hard trying to think of something that she will like!! (even now I am not so sure!!) but anyway here are some pics of what I have done... I had a bit of trouble deciding on which one... so I am sending both!

they are a bit like my windmills ( have a look here) as in, they are the same sort of design and idea. The windmills are paper and that certainly wont work for a brooch as they are so delicate so this is what I came up with... hope my secret swap partner likes them!! I cant wait to see what I get!!!! woohoo! so much fun!

Well, the home renovations are coming along a treat!! Last weekend we swapped my sons room with my office! downsizing MY space in the process :( and this weekend we started on the lounge room! Here is my before and after shot!!!

Oh, and another thing that i have started this week is pinning!!!! OMG sooooo addictive!!! Its done on pinterest and once you have joined (by invitation) you can just pin any image that you find and it goes onto your own personal pinboard.. much better easier and cleverer than cutting out images froma mag and keeping them in a file!!!! anyone interested??? I have a few invitations still available?

Friday night is always pizza night at my place and I usually make them from scratch (depending on my mood and work load!)
Of course last friday night was a very special Royal Wedding night so I made a Prince and Princess pizza for the occasion!!!

The Princess Katherine is fig jam, prosciutto, bocconcini and rocket... and the Prince William is salami, olive and cherry tomato... and both were delicious!!

This weekend I spent a few hours by myself in the kitchen whipping up some nibbles for a drinks and nibbles afternoon at a friends place.
I made a carrot, cumin and orange dip
A beetroot and yoghurt dip
A white bean and garlic dip with rosemary drizzling oil
and a cherry tomato onion chilli and basil topping
served with a lovely long sourdough loaf
Delish!

I enjoyed taking a photos too! Bet you cant guess which dip is which!!! hahahaha!!

my creative space... the windmills are FINISHED!

Its time to send the information and photos off to see if this work is good enough for the folks at Hornsby Art gallery/Council. Its a mixed media piece to go into the Returned to Glory, recycled art competition.

I ended up using an old library book, some sheet music, an old dressmaking pattern and some bits of fabric and buttons as embellishments..... TA DA... I love the end result so dont be surprised if you see me making more in the future..... look out all you scrap pieces of paper and old magazines!!!

I thought that I would also enter this into the wearable art section, I know its pretty boring and not really artistic but it is made from an old t shirt therefore technically it is reused and recycled and refashioned

its really warm and cosy too...perfect for this cold weather!

Well the rain set in about 5 minutes before the party was about to start and even though we had tarps and marquees, it still poured in!!! The kids had a great time... I just hope that no one has woken up with a snuffly nose today!

It was quite distracting, so I ended up cloning a small piece of cheek from another photo and hey presto, perfect composition achieved!...wouldnt it be nice if we could just retouch all our 'distracting' bits away!!!! I also desaturated it to match another print of her son which is already framed but kept a hint of colour in the flower coz it looked cute!

what do you think about my before and after? Anyone interested in a tutorial?

This weekend it rained so we were doing a bit of a clean up around the place and what do I find in the lounge room???

My own Jackson in a box!!! He had actually closed the lid and I couldnt find him for a while until I heard some funny sounds coming from the box, I opened the lid and I jumped and he thought that it was hilarious!

Ah, kids!

BTW...dont buy Glorias Jeans coffee... buy Forsyths.. its so much better..YUM!

Its that time of year again when we are supposed to be all loved up and in the mood for romance! I say..its too much pressure! We should just remember to say I love you and do nice things all the time. Then again, if I receive a bunch of roses and chocolates tomorrow.... i wont be complaining! Its always wonderful when a new bundle of joy (and the rest) arrives in this world. I have been experimenting this week with some announcement card designs for my friend and neighbour, Edwina. She gave me the idea when I photographed her son. They look great printed on cotton card, you know the sort, a bit rough and organic...lovely. What do you think? Any comments are welcomed...x

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! YAY! its 2011...hope its a good one!

I have been busy making things again and I am trying to do some recycling and environmentally friendly projects. I kicked it all off last year with my gift giving... see here ..I found some beautiful enamel milkshake cups and filled them with homemade white chocolate rocky road! YUM! I managed to find a beautiful tea cup and saucer set for $5... I loved it so much that I wasnt going to give it way! here it is..what do you think?

anyway... now that this is sitting comfortably in my antique dresser, I can carry on..., so my newest thing is the necklace / scarf that is made out of old T-shirts. Its so easy and you can do it as simply or as complicated as you like.

I have started with only one extra 'bit' but you can go as crazy as this...

Oh My God you guys...look how long its been since i did a blog entry!!! WOWSERS!!!

I am super busy with my family photography, I love being able to create photos that people love...it really is the gift that keeps on giving, especially at Christmas time.

You know, I have been thinking this year about how much stuff we have that we dont need, I am so guilty of buying useless junk myself!

Recycled Fashion is a lovely blog that I found out about from the gorgeous Stephanie at over it

Its a blog about recycling and there is a special section about buying recycled chrissy gifts instead of new stuff.

This year I have a few pressies to buy for Jacksons various teachers.... I thought the tea cups were a great idea....look here

there is also the Recycled sewing blog that is pretty interesting too.

This piccie is from my last market stall. I found some old kids books from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s and made some little cards and framed images using the pictures from the books... so cute! You can see more photos here

I wouldnt say that this was as easy as just point and shoot, but it was definately a great day!

My task was to shoot up 10 little girls ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years for a local business called spoiled rotten princess

SRP designs and makes gorgeous head pieces, skirts, clothes etc for little princesses, whether they be spolied, rotten , both or not at all!

The shoot went along smoothly, the weather was perfect and we all had a ball. I have included a few shots here but if you would like to see more head on over to frangipani designs @ facebook

SHUT UP!!!! I have just been given these amazing montego bay club 60's vintage wedges! I sent a link from etsy to Mum to show her how amazing they were and she went and bought them!!!! She didnt originally buy them for me of course but because I was such a good daughter and flew from Sydney to Sunny Coast to her aid when she was poorly, she thought that they would be a good reward...oh and I suspect they were a little too small for her as well!!!

Anyway am LOVING them!!! Cant wait for some nice warm weather and a pedicure to show them off!

A few piccies of my workspace... I have just tidied up, although it is not spick and span this is as tidy as its ever gonna get! I have got way too much stuff and little bits and pieces that will never be put away in labelled boxes unless I win an office fairy to come and do it for me!

The strange thing is that even though its messy..I know where everything is until I tidy it up!!

I have two computers at the moment, one is a terribly old PC that I use for internet purposes and I have just uploaded a photo of the new imac 21.5 inch computer for my screen saver!! It is my incentive to save up for it!

here is a teeny tiny tempter of photos from our holiday! I am so busy with everyones elses photography that my own doesnt get a look in!!! Is anyone else the same? I got married over 5 years ago and my wedding photos are still on the disk and the album is still blank!
Oh well...the memories are in my mind!

I know I should be doing a post about Fiji and showing you all my lovely photos but instead I have to show you my nails!!!!!!

I won a competition through the Lifegloss website to get my nails done with the new style of nail fashion called Minx. Its huge in the US and is seen on everyone from Beyonce to Katie Perry. I went to see Jocelyn at Classic Beauty Salon in Sydney to see what all the fuss was about!

There were so many designs to choose from, so I chose the brightest and most 'out there'!! The nail art is then heated up and placed over your nail like a sticker, its then smothed on, filed and Volia...its done, no drying time no chipping...its incredible!

I had the best time getting it done and Jocelyn was amazing! I am now waiting for Summer so I can go and get the leopard print done on my toenails!!!

Classic Beauty is one of the only places in Sydney that does this technique, so give them a call and get Minxed!!!

oh how quiet its been around this blog lately!!!!! well, it goes to show that I am busy in my 'real' life!!!!!

I have re launched my old website and added some new photography and graphic design pages. My budget doesnt allow for a huge brand new website with all the bells and whistles and I certainly dont have any more time to spare, so I have used a free website service for now...soooo...the ads and slow loading might be a bit tiresome, but at least I have some great samples of my work out there ready and waiting for people to see!
